My full name is Petronella, which is an extremely traditional, old-fashioned Dutch name. I was born and raised in a tiny, rural place called Hippolytushoef in The Netherlands (try to find this impossible place on Google Earth). Today, I mostly work and live around The Hague and Amsterdam in The Netherlands – that is, when I’m not camping around the world. My enthusiasm for camping began the day I was born. I’ve camped in tents, caravans, campervans and even pop-top folder campers since I was little. My first tent experience was building my own tipi in our backyard to keep my younger sister hostage!
Today I prefer (comfortable) camping close to nature.
Crazy about comfortable camping
Writing and taking photographs are my greatest hobbies besides camping. I love to do this só much, that it became my daily job. Writing and shooting for Pete Gone Camping is something I do for pure fun. My mission is to camp around the globe and to keep you posted about my adventures and wonderful campsites I’ve found.
Finding the best equipment
I also like to review camping goodies. I’m crazy about camping, but also about comfort, sustainability and coming home relaxed after a holiday or camping weekend. That’s why I strive to make my outdoor adventures as smooth as possible, both for myself and for the nature I leave behind. Going back to basics can be a true pleasure with the right equipment. Get inspired by my personal gear experiences and stuff that I think is cool, either because it simply does what I hoped for, or because it’s brilliantly sustainable.
